My parents retired (sort of) after their ABC variety show was cancelled in 1962. They moved to the High Desert (Apple Valley) NW of Los Angeles in 1965 and Dad instructed his agent, Art Rush, not to even bring him projects because he didn’t want to work in Hollywood any more. Mom had no intention to retire, so she concentrated on writing her books and traveling to give her Christian testimony. Following is their 1970 travel schedule, as you can see, neither of them was retired!

I would love to see that Mike Douglas show with Don Knotts!
Retire, don’t think so from that list of events they were at. Lovely picture of them.
Cheryl do you have any idea when they came to Vancouver B.C Canada. A niece and I went to a Saturday night performance. After your parents were surrounded by young children in awe of their heroes. My niece and I were a little older, I was in my 20’s and she was a teen. So we really didn’t want to, I don’t know, maybe we were just too shy to stand in awe with the young children. So we missed our opportunity to get their autograph and speak to them. But we did get Bob Nolan’s autograph and Pat’s. No one was around them, so we wandered over to them and asked for theirs. They gladly gave us their autographs. I had them both for years before I lost them somewhere. But it was a memory of seeing and listening to them in person. Still love them.

Sorry, Gladys, but I don’t know when they played Vancouver. Mom loved Vancouver and I think she was there several times.
Loved Roy and Dale, and all your family ( Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet) . Thank you so much for sharing these memories, love reading your posts and seeing the pictures! The world needs more Roy’s and Dales, two such very special people! Bless you Cheryl!💗
I would have loved meeting Roy and Dale at the NC Sate Fair in Raleigh! Only problem is that was 25 years before I was born!! They were such good role models, on screen and off. Not many actors you could say that about; especially in this generation!
I saw Roy and Dale Rogers I think in 1954 and Trigger I was about 7 yearsold and I remember how awesome they really were.In 1952/ we got our first television set and we watched all their shows and others as well and it used to be a western era with gene autry, hopalong cassidy ,cisco kid and so many more and it was great growing up in that period. Thanku to your Mom and Dad giving so much of themselves thru their work Thanku u again for sharing
