The Roy Rogers TV Show’s Wonderful Crew

One of the main reasons that the production values on the Roy Rogers TV Show were so good was Dad bringing over so many members of his old Republic Studios crew.

I wish I could remember more of their names but is has been a few years ago and I was, after all, a teenager.

Standing second from the last is Dad’s cousin Stan Slye (actor and sometimes Dad’s stand-in), the sheriff is Harry Harvey, next is Dorothy Andre, Mom’s

make-up gal, Mom (Dale Evans, of course) behind her is Mom’s double Alice Van, Dad, and the gentleman in the suit and tie is that episodes director Nate Berringer.

A CARTOON FROM THE PR DEPARTMENT

My friend Larry Zwisohn has come up with another gem. About the only thing correct in this cartoon of Dad (Roy Rogers) and Trigger is the spelling of their names and the fact that he worked in a shoe factory!

The cartoon says that Dad’s ambition as a young man was to be a minister — wrong!

It also says that someone at the shoe factory heard him sing and got him an audition on the radio — wrong! It wasn’t until he moved to California and

his sister got him to go on stage at a midnight talent show that was broadcast in L.A. Someone heard  him on that show and asked him to join a group (the Rocky Mountaineers) and they got a spot on the radio.
