Dale Evans and the “Coffee Song”

Someone asked me a question about what movie Mom sang a song about coffee. I apologize for not tacking this response to the question, but I can’t seem to find that post. Anyway, I asked a couple of my good friends (who are more qualified experts on Dad’s films than I am) what that movie could be. Larry Z. promptly responded with “Apache Rose.” The title of the song is “There’s Nothing Like Coffee in the Morning” by Jack Elliott.

Keep your questions coming and I will continue to try and find the answers.  Happy trails, Cheryl

I Want to Clear Up Some Confusion

Hi Y’all!

There seems to be a little confusion with what I wrote a couple of days back about the films that Leonard Slye worked on while he was still one of The Sons of the Pioneers.

I know that it’s sometimes difficult to reconcile the cast and credits of a movie with the actual cut version we see on screen.  Sometimes (in the old days) people worked on a film but we never got to see them because they ended up on the cutting room floor! This has happened to almost all actors at one time or another when they are starting and/or ending their careers. I believe that this is why Dad and The Pioneers were listed on a couple of casts where you don’t see them in the final film.

In “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” I think that you do hear them singing in the background at one point.  (I’ll have to ask Karla Buhlman at Autry Entertainment about that as she is the expert on Gene’s films.)

Of course, the reverse is also true regarding credits. There are a lot of films where actors work on a film and are uncredited for their performance.

Nowadays this would (probably) never happen as even the kid who delivered pizza to the set is credited!!!

Anyway, I hope this will clear up some of your questions.
